The blender is a staple in our kitchen, used to make everything from fresh nut milk and morning smoothies to delicious hummus and vegetable soups for dinner. The two blenders that really stand out from the rest are the Vitamix and the Blendtec. We’ve used these models extensively over the years and while the Blentec costs less, quality and performance are just as high.
The Blentec Classic Blender is the workhorse of the kitchen. Powered by a robust 1475 watt commercial-grade motor, there is nothing that this blender cannot handle. It comes with Blendtec’s unique BPA-free four sided jar which really aids in mixing and is a breeze to clean. The controls are simple to use and the backlit display ensures you can easily see what settings you choose.
Want to make smoothies just like at your favourite health bar? This is the ticket. The variable speeds mean you can always blend at the optimum intensity level, and the powerful motor ensures that even the brick of frozen blueberries you drop in will be effortlessly pulverised. Need some fresh flour for a recipe? Just drop in whole berries of your favourite grain or seeds and the Blendtec will take care of the rest. What about sprouted flour? Simply soak and sprout your grains before blending.
Nut milks can be a challenge for many blenders to adequately process, but this blender makes easy work of them. One of my regular uses is to whip up a cup or two of hemp-sunflower seed milk. Here is the recipe:
Hemp-Sunflower Seed Milk
- 2 cups water
- 1/4 Cup raw hemp seed hearts
- 1/4 Cup sunflower seeds (soaked overnight)
- 2 Medjool dates or 1 Tbsp Honey
- 1/4 Tsp Pure Vanilla Extract
- Dash of salt
Simply blend and enjoy! Keep refrigerated, and best used within a week.
The beauty is that you no longer need to eat or drink pre-processed foods that contain preservatives to lengthen their shelf life, such as cartons of pre made nut milk. Combining the quality raw ingredients in your pantry with the Blendtec means you will always have the freshest processed foods that you love while keeping the vital nutrients intact.
